Moorooka Garden Room
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
Occupying a 150sq.m site, the house forms part of a duplex, with the street to the north and the garden to the south. This modest 12 sq.m extension seeks to maximise the house's connection to it's small garden by allowing the deck to become more garden than building. The structure is predominantly crafted from Australian hardwood species, where joist extensions and cantilevered fascias allow the garden to reclaim the built form. A built-in seat wraps the edge between the garden and the deck, allow one to occupy the threshold between the 2 realms. The garden climbs the structure and occupies the pergola extension in magnificent colour and scent.
